  Cross-project duplicate scan

  Project admins can now configure additional projects to include in the duplicate scan, directly from a small toolbox in the issue panel. The setting is visible only to users with the Administer Projects permission. End users continue to see only the duplicates they have permission to view — Jira's native permission filter applies on every panel load. Up to 10 additional projects per project. No admin page, no extra setup.

  Auto-merge custom fields

  Custom fields are now merged automatically when you merge issues. Text, number, user, date and single-option fields are filled in if the target is empty. Multi-value fields (multi-select, multi-user, components, versions, labels-like) are unioned. The target's existing values are never overwritten. A preview before applying lists every field that will change.

  JSM mode — customer-aware merges

  On Jira Service Management projects, a new JSM mode (auto-detected, no admin setup) posts a public comment on the source ticket before close, so customers know their request was merged into another. Internal audit notes are kept off the customer portal, and source-comment visibility (internal vs public) is preserved when copied.

  Collapsible panel for a calmer issue view

  The Merge Assistant panel can now be collapsed to a compact "N potential duplicate(s) [Expand]" banner, persisted per user. The suggestions list also adapts to narrow panels (sidebar issue view, mobile) by stacking rows vertically so long summaries stay fully readable.

  Mark as duplicate, more discoverable

  The "Mark as duplicate" action is now a labeled button next to "Choose", instead of an icon-only control. Easier to find and use as a secondary action — for the cases where you want to link and close without copying any data.

  Sub-tasks carry their full context

  Cloned sub-tasks now inherit the same merge options as the main merge. Description, comments, attachments, custom fields and labels are all carried from the source sub-task to its clone on the target. No more empty cloned shells.

  Primary owner + co-assignees

  Mark one assignee as the primary owner and sync them to the native Jira assignee field. Keeps native reports, boards, sprint planning, and notifications fully working while still supporting co-assignees — directly addresses the most common accountability concern raised in the community.
