Introduction
This privacy policy outlines how Merge Assistant (the "App") collects, uses and protects your personal information when you use the App. The App is provided by La Forge WORK, located at 8 The Green, Dover, DE 19901, USA (hereinafter "La Forge WORK", "we", "us" or "our").
Information we collect
The App may collect the following types of personal information:
- Atlassian account information — to use the App, you authenticate through your Atlassian account. We process your name, email address, Atlassian account ID and avatar URL associated with that account.
- Jira issue content — to detect duplicates and execute merges, we read issue summaries, descriptions, labels, comments, attachments, watchers and participants on the Jira instances where the App is installed. During a merge, we write (copy or link) these elements to the target issue and close the source issues with a relation link.
- Duplicate detection signals — we compute similarity signals from issue text (summary, description, labels, participants) to suggest potential duplicates. These signals are processed in memory and are not retained beyond the suggestion lifecycle.
- Audit data — when a merge is executed, the App posts an audit comment on the target issue and stores a record of the operation (timestamp, actor, fields merged) so the action remains traceable in the Jira issue history.
- Technical & diagnostic data — anonymised logs (timestamps, error codes, request paths) collected for the sole purpose of operating, securing and debugging the App.
How we use your information
We use the data above for the following purposes:
- To provide the App's features and services.
- To suggest duplicate issues and execute merges you have explicitly confirmed.
- To communicate with you about App updates, new features and incidents that may affect you.
- To detect, prevent and respond to security incidents.
- To comply with our legal obligations.
We will never sell, rent or share your personal information with third parties, except as required by law or as strictly necessary to operate the infrastructure on which the App runs (see Sub-processors below).
Merge Assistant does not send your Jira data to any third-party AI or machine-learning service. Similarity computation runs on the Atlassian Forge runtime.
Sub-processors
The App runs on Atlassian's Forge platform. Atlassian acts as a sub-processor for hosting, authentication and storage. See the Atlassian Privacy Policy for details.
Data retention
We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide the App's features and services. When the App is uninstalled from your Atlassian site, configuration and audit data held by the App are deleted within 30 days. Merge audit comments already posted in Jira remain in your Jira instance (under your control). If you wish to have your personal information deleted sooner, please contact us through the Support page.
Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction. The App is Cloud Fortified and runs on the Atlassian Forge platform; it participates in the Atlassian Marketplace Bug Bounty Program. Communications are encrypted in transit (TLS) and stored data is encrypted at rest by Atlassian.
Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (GDPR, CCPA and similar regulations), you have the right to access, update, port or delete your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us through the Support page.
Changes to this privacy policy
